The Dutch Family Netjes was founded in the 18th century in the municipality Zwollerkerspel, north of Zwolle and east of Kampen in the province Overijssel in Nederland (The Netherlands). The first generations were farmers in the neighbourhood of Kampen. One of them started a construction concern in Amstelveen. Today members of the family live all over Nederland and some in the United States. But most of them still live close to Kampen.
Jan Netjes (1921-2010) published a book 'Het geslacht Netjes', (History of the Family Netjes'). This book was published in 1988. Events that happened since are added by the author of this site, (Albert Netjes, born 1953).
Probably allmost all people carrying the surname Netjes are related to another and are mentioned in this database. You will find most descendents of all girls whom were born as Netjes here (with their new surnames until 1988).
The ancestors of the first known Netjes were discovered 2003 by Albert de Leeuw, Zwolle. Searching for 'Zwaantje', ancestor of his sister and his grandmother named Zwaantje, he found four Zwaantjes, about the same age. He presumed all four of them could be descendents of the same grandmother Zwaantje. Investigating intensively in all kinds of archives he found Gerrit Egberts Kragt and Swaantje Jans. Both of them born in Nieuwleusen. Gerrit and Swaantje lived in Nieuwleusen, where their eldest three children were Christened. Lateron they moved to the Hasselerdijk. They had at least seven children, one of them Hendrik Gerrits, the first Netjes. The younger children probably were baptised in Genemuiden. Unfortunately the Church in Genemuiden, including the books, was destroyed by Fire. One of Hendrik Gerrits Netjes siblings continued the surname Kragt. Two other siblings founded the Stadhouder and de Groot families. Gerrit Egberts Kragt and his ancestors were originated in Nieuwleusen, Klaas Egberts [Kragt] was deacon in 1663. On the internet a small group of people with the surname Netjes was found in Heusden, Noord-Brabant, ending with the marriage of Gerbina Netjes in Brielle. You won't find these people in this site because I did not find any relationship.
